LAURA envisions the Chair as an opportunity to permanently transform undergraduate teaching in environmental economics into a multidisciplinary approach to the EU environmental strategies and the European Green Deal. The EU approach will be studied under a specific lens, that of environmental/ecosystem valuation which, in itself and through the channel of ecosystem accounting and its relationship with the System of National Accounts, arguably represents the most advanced and encompassing attempt made globally to analytically represent the interactions between the environment and human societies. This implies a comprehensive vision of the meaning, rationale and effects of governance strategies at any level, including the European Green Deal.
